This La Z Boy recliner is composed of a four-sided Unibody box frame. This kind of frame is strong and rigid, and has survived tests designed to tear it apart. A combination of helical and sinuous springs present within the reclining chair helps reduce stress when sudden pressure is applied - for instance, when a user drops suddenly into the recliner. Polyurethane foam, which is cut contour-wise is used as the cushion. Blown-in fibre is used over the entire back for providing extra comfort. The footrest has a solid steel drive shaft which neither twists nor wears-out. La Z Boy recliner mechanisms are all hand assembled. Thus, if any repair needs to be done or any part needs to be replaced, it becomes very easy and cheap.
